10 Questions Ministries Should Never Stop Asking

question-markI actually borrowed this list completely from a Forbes article here. What’s fascinating is that while I read through the list my thoughts drifted from businesses (which it was intended to target) to ministries.

So, read through these 10 questions with a “ministry hat” on. I bet you’d come up with some very interesting applications and conclusions:

  1. What is our purpose of existing?
  2. Who is our target customer?
  3. Why does anyone need what we’re selling?
  4. If there is a need, is it enough to support a profitable business?
  5. What are our competitors up to?
  6. Can you reduce expenses — without harming the product?
  7. Do we have the right leadership?
  8. Do we have the right employees?
  9. How will we continue to drive revenue?
  10. How are your employees holding up?

What are your thoughts?

  1. Switch a few words around and that's a pretty exhaustive list for *any* type of organization. Love how you're always making the correlation between the non-profit and for-profit John.

  6. Those are good, hard, realistic, knuckle-cracking kinds of questions!

  7. Wrestling with #6, the economy is slamming us and we have to be able to cut back/prioritize w/o limiting our effectiveness.

    We have a Google Alert set up for the phrase “never stop marketing” since that is the name of our company. Hope you won’t consider this ‘comment spam,’ or anything like that, but thought you might like to ‘join the movement’ since you obviously share the philosophy!
