BBPress: The ‘Wordpress’ of Forum Software Releases 1.0

Posted by John Saddington on Jul 7, 2009

bbpresslogoAnnounced a few days ago, BBPress, the ‘Wordpress‘ of Forum Software, released it’s “gold package” into the wild.

Although this is the first public release for the platform, it’s been stable for years and has been a top choice for me personally.

And, of course, no stronger recommendation could be afforded to it other than the fact that I use it here for the ChurchCrunch Community Forums. Technorati uses them too.

It’s not a perfect platform or forum software but it may just be what you need when you go shopping around. It’s got an amazingly brilliant integration with Wordpress, theming is easy, and there are great plugins for it.

So, if you’ve been waiting for an “official” release, it’s now here. Read all about the update and release here, or go download it here.

I tried installing this a few days ago, but it was very confusing… not sure if you know of a simple process to integrate bbpress into a wordpress site (within a current theme).

    • should be pretty easy… jump in the forums and we can talk more.
