Catalyst Music Project – Sharing with the World

Music is one of the areas that I have little to zero experience in.
Well, I’ll be honest. I played the piano when I was younger and I’ve been teaching myself guitar for the past 5 years and have memorized 4 songs. Yes, about 1 song a year; that’s how good I am at it.
But I digress.
The web is changing everything, from the business side, to sharing, to development, to crowdsourcing, to being found and getting started, to viral spread, everything.
Catalyst, which isn’t shy from doing something innovative, announced a little while ago the Catalyst Music Project, which jumped out at me, not because it’s super-innovative/never-been-done-before but because of the potential for this to become more than just a model but a paradigm-shift.
Make sure to check it out and submit your song if you’re so inclined, and if you win (and you went there from this post) make sure to let us know…!
My good friend Carlos, who recently announced his move with Integrity Music, has been schooling me so hard on the “industry” and “biz” of music and has opened my eyes to where he sees it all going, and the future looks bright.
I think there’s an opportunity for the Church to do things the world has never seen in terms of how we do music. We all know that we’re different in the why… but it’s what we do that’ll speak to the world who could care less about our unseen motivations.
What have you seen? What are you doing? How is the web changing the music industry in the Church?

[...] on ChurchCrunch and I saw this post on the Catalyst Music Project. I got all excited about [...]

1. The Catalyst Music Project is freaking astounding, I think it will be phenomenal.
2. Why does the CatMusicProj not have any music in the intro video?? honestly…
puaha @ #2.
This should be interesting.
What I think is, Christian singers and songs from the Church will no longer be secluded just in the church. Susan Boyle and KRis allen (i hear he's a christian) can make waves in the music industry. God loves ugly by Jordin sparks and Jesus take the wheel are great examples of songs (sang in the world) that can be used by God mightily to spread His word!
The web is empowering the listener and the artist. The big labels are no longer the door to good music. That is the paradigm shift. The artists have a more level playing field when it comes to a platform, and the listener has unlimited search capabilities. If I've got my stats right, every item on Amazon has been bought once. And I think iTunes is similar. That means that someone will find you if you can be found. Really cool stuff. I'm hoping to be in on this soon, also.
Sorry, mental spillage! Music gets me excited! And the project is brilliant. The Web is incredible.
sweet! are you an artist/
Well, yes and no. I do play a few things, but my family has just started a company called R8 Media Group (link: http://r8mg.com/ ) We're still in the early stages, but we will be using the Web as much as we can to get some good media from the Church out there. We're all very excited!
WOW!
That's awesome!
