Churches Hear the Clarion Call of Twitter

Twitter is spreading and growing in the evangelical circuit like the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. (Perhaps that’s a bad analogy… but I’ll use it anyway).
Here are two recent articles that you can use to help support the felt need for Twitter in your church and/or organization. The second article ends with the quote: “We have to remember that the medium is not the message.” I bet Shane Hipps would have something to say about that (or John Dyer).
But here’s the challenge as you begin to step into the exciting and somewhat “murky” waters of engagement in channels such as Twitter: What Now?
I think a lot of people are enjoying the fact of instant connection, “community,” conversations… but if it stops there, then what real value does it have?
A “clarion call,” by definition, suggests a call to action. Part of what we need to continually do as technologists is to encourage action married with activity.
That’s why I love stuff like Twestival, where Twitter has a very impactful use.
Where is Twitter going for you and your ministry?

it's useful for many things but it take time for others to use it. plus we are not in a metro area(45 min north of pdx) but it's an amazing networking tool.
This past Sunday my Senior Pastor and I were interviewed about our use of Twitter in services.

WOW! i'm looking at it right now…
I've been able to communicate key parts of my pastor's message to way more people than are in the room by way of Twitter. Using clients like Tweetie that utilize a "nearby" function really helps to communicate locally as well.
tweetie is awesome…! i'm digging it.
I'm slowly getting into tweeting the messages… just wish we had better cell reception in our buildings.
