Posted by John Saddington on Jan 11, 2009

moo-mini-cardsSomething fascinating occured a handful of times at Church Tech Camp : Dallas:

A few bloggers busted out business cards.

Which got me thinking, “Do I need one?”

Well, honestly, it got me thinking: “Do I need one?” or “Do I really want one?”

minicard_cutoutThe question isn’t settled in my mind yet, so I thought I’d pose it to the ChurchCrunch Community here:

  4. I thought this very thing not long ago. It is part of the reason I started http:/www.extendr.com. Check out our cards here http://www.extendr.com/getcards.More designer cards coming soon.

  5. Interestingly enough, I wrote about this topic before reading this post. Here's what I wrote. Essentially, I chose to make my "business card" digital at <a href="jasonthedce.com>JasonTheDCE.com and then have"traditional" business cards printed that just send people to my digital one. The digital site allows me to update which services I'm currently invested in without having to redo my business cards. My website essentially becomes a portal to all thing me on the web.

In other news, the comment box is way to small and I'm unable to resize in Firefox. I can only see about 3 lines of this comment and then I'm typing in the dark.

    • forgot to close the <a> loop… :)

      • Curses! Not my first time, that's for sure!

    • oh, really? huh.

  6. What do you think? Maybe they are not "business cards" but rather "personal cards."

    • hmm. perhaps. serves the same purpose, right?

      • My blog readers thought the same as well. "Personal Cards" was a more apt name for it. Increasingly, however, I'am seeing an increasingly blurred line between "work" and "personal" in my life. I "work" and "play" in many of the same sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Email and Blogging. I also do more personal stuff at the office and work stuff at home since it's coming in via social applications.

  7. ah, there. thanks!

  8. sweet, let me check that out.

  9. he he… here is my post and entrance into this contest: http://www.duregger.net/blogging-for-business-car...

    • sweeeeeeeeeeet. hehe.

  10. Human3rror, thank you so much for bringing my attention to moo.com! I love their cards, so cute! and they seem to be a lot cheaper that most business cards.

Moo have a 20% offer till the end of Jan if you use the promo code GE6X8C

  11. I have a business card that I created myself in Photoshop. I've decided that I need to re-do it as it is too busy and it doesn't have my blog on it (created after the card).

I agree with http://thenarrowroad-andyc.blogspot.com/2009/01/o...and think that they are a way to communicate on a personal "hands-on" way with people. I hand out my business card all the time because not everybody carries around a BlackBerry where they can input all the information. Plus it is a visual reminder to contact me when they're emptying out their pockets at the end of the day. I think they are still relevant in today's "online world".

    • yes, i think it is still relevant.. and apparently it works…

  12. We at http://www.extendr.comthink cards on some level could be helpful. See post here. http://blog.extendr.com/

    • thanks joseph! great stuff…!

  13. Personal Networking Cards… this is what I've thought about and created based on a conversation with a friend over a year ago:
