Fire Eagle Burns a WordPress Plugin
Geolocation is getting big.
In fact, it’s so big that I’ve decided to finally commit to spending the due diligence to decide on a service that I like and make a true attempt at keeping it updated.
Perhaps this is due in part because Fire Eagle, a Yahoo company, finally built a customizable WordPress plugin, and many of the other services have as well.
They also have a cool name. That gives them a few points, right?
Check it…!

Fire Eagle essentially is a storing house for information about where you are in the world. Then you can use other applications to showcase your location and more via the Fire Eagle API.
Cool, right? Check out my sidebar. Yum.
Let me know if you have the time to install and try this thing out. I’d love to see some others implement.
In addition, what are your thoughts about geolocation technology? Is it reasonable, valuable, and effective for ministry purposes?

geolocation… whos doing it ? ::::::New blog post: Fire Eagle Burns a WordPress Plugin http://tinyurl.com/6wy9d3

Cool stuff. I may try it on my blog. Other than some cool implementations with the iPhone and photography, I am not completely sold on the value for ministry apps… yet.
yeah. still working on that… i need an expert geo-guy to come in my house.
I believe the value in ministry will come more from travelers and researchers.
I.e its not about me as much as the traveler being able to plug his location into somewhere and asking, "where can I attend Church should I so desire?"
Or the more interesting possibility, if a church wants to research the possibility of partnership with another church in another country, geo-location would seem to offer the possibility of asking, "What churchs meet in such and such a country and/or city?" and then be able to actually contact them and begin building a relationship.
good points.. much to be explored. much to be desired.
With all of these social networks abounding I have fallen into the "If ping.fm doesn't send to it, I probably won't use it." category, if that is actually a category.
social networking attention crash?
on snap. seriously.
it is… and a ot of people actually use that as an excuse for non-adoption. heard it before…
Nice! you always post to yummy dev stuff
just for you.
I love it! That is way cool man! The steps weren’t that complicated too, which is great.
