I set alerts for pastors in city, for churches in my city, and for my church itself... as I am the volunteer webmaster/ media geek. After leaving it running for a month, I've found:
a. Three cool blogs by local pastors
b. The only thing in the news about churches in our area is Prop. 8 backlash
c. The only internet presence our small church generates are our own web page posts.
So that was illuminating! Thanks for the idea.

All right, John. I tried it. I have a few Google Alerts setup, but for some reason I never thought to set some up with the idea of ministry in mind. You do an awesome job of thinking outside of the box and finding real ways to 'do ministry' with online technology.

This is an excellent idea.
