It has been my constant hope that people can begin to see the power of social media and social networking, and how, when used well and wisely, can change people’s lives for the good and better.

Yesterday the online space saw another shining example with Jon Acuff, his blog StuffChristiansLike.net, Samaritan’s Purse, and a dream of building a Kindergarten in Vietnam.

In less than 18 hours, Jon Acuff, through his blog, Twitter, and the expansive network that he’s connected to, was about to gather more than 30,000 dollars for an unbelievable cause.

I’m both humbled and excited to see the amazing success. But, I’m not surprised. The power of social networking and the “viral” nature of the medium can do amazing things.

But something that I’d like people to remember is that it’s only been through the power of the Holy Spirit that allowed such a great cause be so successful. God had prepared those who gave to be ready and willing to give; Jon was just the vehicle he used for this particular initiative.

I love how God and His Love is being made manifest through online technology. This is just beginning folks! He’s going to be doing even greater things, I believe it.

You are exactly right John, it had nothing to do with the design of the blog (sorry dude), Jon Acuff himself, but the Holy Spirit using all of this to help others in need.

It was a great thing to be apart of yesterday.
