Keeping Tabs on the Conversation

socialmention_home

socialmention_churchcrunch_scoreI’ve already posted a couple times on other services that help one monitor the conversations that are swirling out there in the interwebs about your ministry and/or organization.

SocialMention is another one that is, well, worth “mentioning”.

A search engine primarily, it can deep dive quickly into particular types of social media with the push of a button.

It also can update in real time, send alerts to you via a personalized RSS, and give you a “score” about how you’re doing out there.

I’m a little skeptical about my score posted here… I simply do not believe that this particular site has been around long enough to get a 91/100…  It only turned 3 months today!

It’s worth a go, though, and I’ve already found some relevant conversations that I’ve jumped into (particularly blogs) that were valuable to me.

Not everyone believes in monitoring and even less have the time to do it well.  I think using this service in collaboration with others can help paint a broad digital landscape and show you how you’re being “talked about” out there.

The idea isn’t perfect… but it’s getting better every time.

  1. Hmm, interesting site. I looked at my score; I am a little disappointed because our score is not quite a 91. Then again, I noticed your score had changed as well. A RSS feed to keep track of it is nice and I am going to utilize it.

Keeping tabs on what is being said is vital to web marketing and it is smart to monitor stats on site visitors, etc. Just be careful of how deeply you dig into the monitoring. As they say, eventually you can develop "paralysis from analysis".

    • Okay, we will have to see how this site goes. I first looked up triunedesigns and it said I had a score of 54… bummer. I refreshed it after I left the post above and I had a score of 100. Wow, that is a drastic change in the span of a couple of minutes.

    • it's not a great service for the "rank" portion.. more a long the lines of search.

      • Yeah, my problem with this is that they place a pretty hefty emphasis on your "social rank". It is misleading to make someone think how successful or unsuccessful they are based on this rank since it is obviously very dynamic.

It is a pretty cool search engine, though.

        • i think it'll do… for now.

  2. perfect proof case.
