Music from the Vatican

Posted by John Saddington on Oct 7, 2009

A new music project on behalf of Universal Music is beginning the development and recording of music straight from the Vatican. Called “Alma Mater,” it seeks to capture the essence of the Pope as well as in honor of the Virgin Mary.

Apparently it’s coming out in November of this year.

If find this fascinating that a large organization like the Catholic Church are expanding into all these other types of media spaces. They first passed me the YouTube video to receive coverage.

Pretty neat.

I love these larger scale initiatives; an attempt to spur on an entire “nation” of believers into new areas.

  1. That's a pretty sweet idea!

  2. So you got an email from the Pope? Did it say: "Hey John, check out this cool YouTube video me and the Cardinals put together!"

In all seriousness, I think its cool that a pretty large and OLD institution such as the Catholic Church recognizes the importance and relevance of the social media space!

  3. if the Catican Church can do it? we also can!

We really just need to widen our vision and look up on how BIG our GOD is!
