My Personal Twitter Meltdown

It has become obvious that Twitter is the new spam-central. I’m pretty fed up with all the pornography, self-proclaimed social media gurus, and completely worthless spam for affiliate marketing.
So, I’m going to shut it all down and start over. I’m going to unfollow everyone and then, with maximum prejudice, begin to follow people again. I’ll probably lose 1,000+ followers instantly due to un-follow scripts tagged onto most of these accounts, but that doesn’t really bother me much at all.
Good riddance.
If you feel like having a legitimate, fun, and worthwhile dialogue about stuff then go ahead @ reply me; I’ll probably follow you back.
But down with all the nastiness and worthlessness on Twitter! You can actually see how they are all going bye-by:
What fun!
On another note, if you’re not interested in having a complete Twitter meltdown, then feel free to use this very neat service to block people who are “spammy”: TwitBlock.org.
Check it out:
As you can see, I have about 1,300+ accounts that are worthy of a big block-in-the-face but I honestly don’t have time to click all those “block” buttons:

And yes, I’m very happy to have a “spamminess” rating of zero. Nilch. Nada. Nothing.

Unlike some people I know…
PUAHA.

ha! do it!
I'm beginning to feel the EXACT same way. Especially with the people that I'm mysteriously following… even though I never "followed" them in the first place. Perhaps it's the looming sign of the TWEET ESTATE Bubble, and it's about to burst.
Thanks! Twitblock is awesome. You are just begging someone to block you and give you 5 pts though btw.
eh, that' doesn't bother me…
I've been slowly unfollowing all the nonsense spam from my "auto-follow' mistake all along. @theworshipcomm may be spam to some because it's mostly RSS updates of new threads, but some folks want that. Our bio says up front that's what it's about.
On the other hand, hope you'll stay in touch w/ my @fmckinnon – and of course, I'm certainly still following you!
Good call – @stevemanatt from a fellow church/technology conundrum enthusiast
cool. will follow after the unfollow armageddon.
I'm with you bro… Twitter needs to post up and address this with a Bulk Action Feature or Filter of sorts. Will destroy their growth potential.

right on.
haha thanks for breaking new ground and posting a video in the comments!
I basically love this video…
Stands to reason, everyone knows los is just a spam bot
PUAHA.
I. LOVE. IT. Killer move.
hehe. a true kill.
So far, I haven't had too bad a problem with spam, a few that i block immediately. I also have a no second chance unfollow rule if you mention anything along the lines of "get a gazillion followers in 10 seconds…". but then, I don't have that big of a following anyway. good luck with it.
Thanks for the post! The porn spammers have been insane that past couple of days. I was just trying to figure out what to do when I saw your post. Human3rror to the rescue again! Thanks!
Hope you won't kill me
how could i kill the dust of flower…!?
I knew you could do it!
I understand the philosophy behind following everyone who follows you, but I've never thought it was a great idea. Hopefully your Twitterverse will be a better experience after the purging!
i liked it for a while. and i still think it has value, but i'm not dogmatic about either way.
LOL that Last Bit on your Current Post was Funny!
I totally Agree with you though! Looks like you have some of the Same Spam that i keep deleting!! I will have to @ reply you Because I Do like Legitimate Conversation:) and I don't always have the Attention Span to keep up with Blogs and Such, But i Do like interacting:) ( a.d.d ya know!)
To be honest, whenever I see @loswhit on my screen, my mind transposes the "w" and the "s" which always catches me by surprise and offends me just a little bit. But hey, if he's cool with God, he's cool with me. And since I don't actually know him, I figure I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
PUAHA. pwned.
i thought u were los’ bot…puahaha!
Socialtoo http://socialtoo.com is another great service to try. You can unfollow everyone with 1 click and block and automattically unfollow spammers. @scobleizer and @loic as famous twitter users who used the service to unfollow everyone
Dude, that's a riveting video, btw
I've never auto-followed back – but I do go in every couple of days and manually follow back every "real" follower…aka non-nekkid, non-forex trading, non-explode your follower count promising, non-guaranteed money making tip giving folks. Also found that waiting a day or two to follow-back causes the really impatient spammers to drop off on their own…
ya..completely agree with you! spammers are ridiculously annoying–try to block them as soon as I can. I thought about protecting my updates, but still am not sure if I should.
