New Year Blog Resolutions
The advantage of having 2 very public blogs is that you can ask the same question twice and not feel guilty about doing it… but you have to be strategic! No double posting or copy-and-pasting though!
On my other blog I posted a question about your typical “New Year’s Resolution”… here, being a technology focus, I’m posting a specific “type” of resolution: The Blogging Resolution.
Blogging is different for all of us. Without question. And just as diverse are our motivations and reasons for blogging. Some of us just blog for fun, some of us to support our already weak egos, some to reach others the amazing Gospel story, and some of us, like DJ Chuang, do it “just because we can“.
I have no problems with the many different motivations; there’s room in the blogosphere for all of it!
But, I am personally convicted to be purposeful and missional (with and in wisdom) in everything that I do. Not everyone, obviously, agrees with me (and again, that’s cool).
So when I sit down and think of “New Year’s Resolutions” my mind heads down the path of how I can not only use my blog better but how I can simply just blog better.
I’ve already got a good list of resolutions and many of them have been a part of a much larger blogging-roadmap that’s continually changing and being developed.
But I challenge you to make a few for yourself. Perhaps it’s as simple as a number, like committing to blog at least 3 times a week. Perhaps it’s a bit bigger like a blog redesign, trying new plugins, or migrating to WordPress (the best semantic blogging platform on the planet). Or maybe, just maybe, it’s something much bigger… but I leave that up to you.
Got them? I’d love to hear them. I also would love to see you blog about them… see, that’s accountability, and apparently it works.
Can’t wait to get started on our blogs for 2009… it’s going to be awesome.

For my business blog:
- Do more with less words. I can be a bit verbose and I need, as Tony Morgan said, a hatchet editor to streamline my content. (http://tonymorganlive.com/2008/12/23/reality-chec...)
- Be more frequent with my posts and stick to the publishing schedule.
For my personal blog
- Enjoy the original nature of blogging and not have to worry about deadlines. However, I still want to be intentional with what I write.
hehe. need some "paragraphs" in there…
you have a publishing schedule? cool.
where's the personal one?
Yeah, the publishing schedule is a work in progress, but I really like having it. For some reason the schedule makes things a little more exciting.
I am a little hesitant to even mention my personal one. I started it a few weeks ago and is only a few posts old. It is a bit of a test run to see how much fun personal blogging can be. Here's the address: http://goalepignosis.com/
My blogging plan for 2009.
1. To add more personal content to lightvox.com. My most commented and popular posts have been ones where I add my bizarre views to a story.
B. To create more guest posts on ChurchCrunch. It allows me to share my inner geekness.
7. To continue to help others with their own blogging plans, design and tech issues.
3r. To work with human3rror on some side joints to help others move ahead of the curve.
EPIC.
