North Point Launches New Landing Page

A bunch of “launch” news today… so here’s another great one into the mix:
North Point Ministries launched their new landing page this early afternoon. I think it looks great.
Also, check out the cool “New to Northpoint” page which will hopefully simplify your “new” experience to North Point.
If you want to follow some of the “brains” behind the design and who keep NorthPoint.org running, check out @joshdaws, @rtgolf, @waynehelsby, and you can (if you want) follow me too.

I like the nice, clean look of the new landing page! But I especially like the idea of simplifying the "New" area by giving video overviews of each area. Nice job to you and the rest of the team!
josh/wayne/russell did a smashing job.
Love the new landing page. NP team did great…fresh and clean. Where do you get your inspiration?
we like smashingmagazine.
Totally agree…i've been looking at them for logo ideas for my blog…oh yeah, jumping into the blogosphere soon…speaking of, got a really cool theme for it, called CrushPress Theme…ever heard of it?
yeah… i think… sounds lame.
I like the new look!
What prompted the change and will this look be rolled out to the other locations/partners?
Is NP now handling all web development in-house?
no, not all of our design/dev is in house. but, money is tight, right?
Awesome! Still waiting on the rest of my staff to decide it's time to start meeting about planning our new website…
That's a lot of link under that dropdown. Like, overwhelmingly a lot.
I'd love to hear more about the process that arrived at this final product.
@joshdaws for the answer
I'd be interested in hearing more about the process myself.
Actually, when this post first dropped I went through the new site and took down some notes on what parts of the new design I thought followed industry standards and best practices, and what I thought didn't. Sort of a "professional critique" or "peer review".
I considered posting it here as a comment, but I was concerned that some of my harsher criticisms would come across poorly without my body language and tone to give my words context. So instead of an item-by-item peer review I'll just summarize my thoughts and hope that the flippin awesome guys at NPCC, whom I respect, know that I'm trying to be helpful.
The bottom line is that the old site had significant issues, particularly in the area of usability as Josh mentioned, that were addressed with the new design. I am excited to see that. That being said, it is my professional opinion (read: not a fact) that the new site introduced more problems than it solved.
I love you guys. Srsly.

It looks great! It's easy to navigate and is not cluttered. What does Northpoint use for site design? expression engine?
yes.
Yeah, it is a lot of information. Unfortunately it's just the nature of the beast known as NP web. Our last site had all of that information buried 5 or 6 levels deep. It was impossible to find. We wanted to make all of that info easier to get to. Originally it was going to be a site map on the bottom of each page like LifeChurch has on their campus sites. In an effort to declutter, we ultimately came up with the Quick Links drop down.
Josh is the man. watchout.
because you're awesome.
