Reading the Original Texts Online without Distraction – Technological Minimalism at its Finest

John Dyer is the man.

That guy pumps out applications like Arnold pumps iron (or used to). The only difference is that John doesn’t “build” for himself.

Dyer’s newest app is really sweet, and I’ve already used it a few times in just personal development: The Reader’s Version of Greek and Hebrew Bible.

You can read more about the application and John’s underlying thoughts here on his blog post about it.

The core takeaway from my perspective (other than a sweet app) is the challenge of considering how we can best use technology in order to create great value without distraction. It’s a tough balance to create in our technologically-drenched economy that we play in every single day (if not every single hour/minute/second).

Thanks John for the good reminder. Remember, Don’t Eat The Fruit…!

    FYI: if you do want a little more power, just check the "Show Popups" and you'll get all the normal Greek/Hebrew popup stuff like you'd see in an app like Logos.

    Now if I only remembered any of my Greek from Seminary (and I never had Hebrew). My Greek prof told me that if I promised to study at least 60 minutes a day he would pass me no matter what I got on the final. I actually passed on my own (but just barely.)

    OK seminary folk, I've been thinking about looking into enrolling in some classes, but not sure of the route to take. This would likely be for personal enrichment. Thoughts?

    DTS has an extension campus here in atlanta… and DTS.edu has some great online courses as well!

    Thanks for posting this. I was thinking about a few verses that I wanted to do some study of in the Greek but was going to just put it in my Someday/ Maybe file for when I get my books out of storage. It's an awesome resource. Thanks to John for creating a resource like this!
