SEO Tip: Showing Category Posts

Posted by John Saddington on Feb 24, 2009

picture-18As I mentioned here about some of the slight design changes on ChurchCrunch.com, I thought I’d expound just a little bit more about the philosophy of showing recent posts in your categories.

It’s pretty simple, really. It’s called internal link building.

Most people when the talk about any linking elaborate on external linking, anchor text, keyword analysis and research, but you don’t hear much about the internal architecture of a site that really helps.

And gosh darn it… it’s so easy to do!

Cool Bonus Tip!

Here’s another really hot tip about how to make the most of these category trees: Make sure you use keywords and/or tags in the most recent posts that match some of the hot-ticket-items and techmemes that are buzzing around the blogosphere.

This is especially important for blogs that cover anything related to “news.”

For example, if Twitter is being thoroughly discussed in terms of microformat data, I’m going to use “twitter” and “microformat data” as tags in my post.

Voilá. You’re an SEO Strategy Genius.
