Seth Godin: Faith is Long Term, Just Like Your Blog
Seth’s got it right this morning with his post “The Best Billboard in New York“:
Billboards are useful for building brand trust, but only if you run them for a very long time and over a wide area. In other words, it’s an act of faith.
I can personally attest to his remark that it is truly an “act of faith” that things like blogs can actually grow. It takes time and a good dose of patience.
But, you never know, and that’s the faith-in-action perspective that we all need a little more of.
Faith is long term, just like your blog. Don’t forget it. You’re in it for the long haul. Temptation to quit, stop, drop out will always be there, but for those that persevere will be handsomely rewarded.

It does take faith. From faith will flow the patience and perseverance you need. Write from your heart as God directs, and all else will fall into place.
I have actually seen that billboard that Seth Godin shows on his blog. I laughed when I went to NY to visit family, and living now in the DFW area, saw a billboard advertising Dallas BBQ. May be the best in NY, but not close to the real thing. People in NY should stick to pizza and pasta!
There's a Bible verse in there somewhere, but I can't quite recall it….
Where is the difference between faith and needless persistence? How do you draw the line between retiring an apparently unworkable concept, and continuing perhaps because you have found something thats ahead of its time?
That, daniel, is a great question, and is probably a very personal one. thanks for bringing it up… i'm going to think about this.
Thanks for the encouragement. I guess i just have to wait this thing out. Not much traffic right now, but if everyone who see's this would visit my site would grow in traffic tremendously. I promise you'll find something of interest. Just use the Google search on my site to look something up.
I agree with you that it takes a while for a blog to grow. It takes consistent and persistent work and prayer.
Here is a great scripture about "faith" from Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Jeff,
Thanks for this! Always love scripture…
