Sunday Special QA No. 3

Posted by John Saddington on Apr 12, 2009

ssqa1Sunday’s a good day to take it easy.

I’ve decided that on Sundays I’m not going to do any blogging except for a very simple post series called “The Sunday Special” where you get to ask me anything you’d like.

You can ask about me about web technology, Wordpress, blogging, what I ate for breakfast… whatever.

I can’t promise that I’ll answer all of your questions, but feel free to answer each other’s questions as well.

I’ll try to answer all the questions throughout the coming week.

Simple enough, right? Go.

  1. Ok, I'll go first: When did you become a Christ follower and what led you to that?

    • Jay,

Wow. Didn't expect that on Easter morning…!

I grew up in a Christian home, my parents were my models for my faith and my father is one of the greatest influences in my life. I didn't always \”walk\” though and that only came just before I went to college. It's been a long process of growth and realization as the Spirit has taken the walls down bit by bit. I seriously took up my cross after the 1st year of college when I realized I was completely bankrupt in pretty much every part of my life. There's a lot more in this story, but that'll do to get started…

thanks jay for the great question this morning. He is Risen…! have a great and glorious day.

      • i love to hear testimonies of how God works in the lives of his people.

  2. How long have you been working with churches, and what led to that decision? Have you always had a passion for technology and social media?

    • I've been working with churches for a number of years but only \”officially\” in a paid staff role at North Point Ministries for about 7 months.

The path that got me there is a long one… and is probably best suited for an over-coffee type discussion… perhaps we should!

yes. passion for connecting people with technology. it didn't always \”look\” like what it does today, but it's always been there.

      • Thanks for answering my questions. I'd love ot have coffee with you sometime. What is it with tech people and their Starbucks addition? Maybe something to do with not ever getting a lot of sleep spending hours in front of a computer trying to get things done last minute.

My passion for technology has always been there as well, but it hasn't grown until more recently with everything going on in social media and twitter, but yea I love it! :)

Maybe we can meet up sometime over coffee, i'd love that!

  3. hehe. i don't know… something about the good black stuff…!

sweet, let's try to meet up sometime…!

    • a mocha and a laptop?that's work for me.

  4. Great story about the mother in law…how'd that go?

    • she bailed… unfortunately. next time.

      • i told my wife about it and she said \”Tell him that Buddha is in his grave, but Christ has risen\”

  5. What leader has most shaped you? It could be in any area.

    • There was an english teacher back in highschool that made a significant impact in my life. and even though he wasn't a \”leader\” in the typical sense, he was to me. he engendered a love for reading and thinking critically about ideas and thought.

      • There have been several people that have shaped my life through the years; parents, mentors, pastors, coaches, teachers. But the single one thing that I can still point to is my high school art teacher. I remember him saying one time that "cursing shows how un-creative a person is" (or something to that affect). I have never been able to curse since then, even when I wasn't living as a believer. Huge impact it had and I'm not really sure why.

        • wow, that's pretty cool…! not very good at art, myself!

          i dig the \”curse\” thing… i've heard that before!
