Technology and Reading the Bible
Got a great email from the YouVersion team suggesting that I can use their app to read through the entire Bible in a year.
Now, I’ve personally done this type of bible-reading in some other fashions and through other methods but it made me curious as to how you guys are reading the Word for your personal studies… and if you’re using technology for it?
Apparently they’ve got web-enabled, iPhone, and BlackBerry representation… wicked!

i use YouVersion’s Bible app to read while I am on my iPod Touch, but I regularly read straight from a more traditional style Bible

probably not, i don’t like to read just to be reading. i normally read in short amounts and try to learn as much about what i am reading as possible

Last year I used the LifeJournal plan from BibleGateway.com, once I found out about Youversion I started doing the LifeJournal readings on YouVersion. I am going to start using YouVersion's reading plan and see how it goes. There are definitely some improvements that could be made with it but it looks great and I really like their reader.
i'm sure their product team would love your feedback… they sometimes troll this blog….
I like YouVersion and its iPhone web app, but I also like having the Word on paper in my hands. I have done the Bible in a year a time or two. This year I want to really dig into scripture verses and meditate on them in great depth. That is something I have not done as much of in the past and want to improve.
sweet. i go back and forth during the year. i'm not good at keeping schedule… you can ask my better half about that..
I use a combo of the Bible, Youversion.com & some devotional studies

I've been dying to get an iPhone for a while now, and YouVersion was one of the reasons why. My contract is almost up, then I'll be getting one so I can enjoy YouVersion on the go. I am currently using the youversion iPhone app for my read through of the New Testament in 30 days. I used Biblegateway.com to read through the Old Testament before I discovered youversion.com. The iPhone app is perfect for reading scripture anywhere you may find yourself. I still like the traditional bound Bible, but I am finding that having youversion on my iPhone is far more convenient and is helping me to read scripture more frequently.
i used bgateway for a longggggggg time. do you use your iphone at church?
I use the new ESV Study Bible for my daily study. I also use the online version that comes with it when I'm on the go. I use a small ESV for when I'm preaching… that ESV study Bible us HUGE. I use online commentaries and re:greek for in depth study along with some stuff off my book shelf.
I haven't ever taken the time to get into YouVersion, but I love the idea. I'll have to check it out and get with the program.
I will use the Daily Walk in 2009, which is part of the Walk Thru the Bible program. Nothing too high tech for me as far as Bible reading this year.

I'm using the daily reading plan for YouVersion on my iPod Touch, choosing a different version each day to read from to get a flavor for more of them than I usually do. it is a great tool.

I'm using the Youversion on my iPhone quite a bit. And I started the "in a year" readings yesterday. Easy and no excuse not to read – I've got it with me all the time. Anytime I've got a few minutes, I can be in the word. Excellent!

I've done the "read the Bible in a year" before (using hard copy). Not big on doing it that way (hard or soft copy). I have started using YouVersion as part of United Nerd Lifegroup (UNLG represent!) ad I like it a lot.
So, I do a combination of a regular print Bible (nice slimline type with soft covers) and YouVersion. I'm not heavily gadget enabled right now, so I read YouVersion from my laptop and have the hard copy for those times I choose (or am forced) to be unplugged.
