The Best Part of Being Famous on the Internet Is…

You see, being “famous” on the internet is just as good as being in the “cool group” in Middle School.

It doesn’t mean anything (especially if you’re now 20 years old or older) … or does it?

Apparently it can’t even get @iJustine a free coffee @ Starbucks, even though (at this moment) she has nearly 414 thousand followers on Twitter. Skip to 1:30 on the video below:

So, here’s your friendly reminder that your blog stats, traffic patterns, Twitter follower count, and all those other numbers and stuff that make you “famous on the internet” are really just that: numbers. Nothing more, nothing less.

Especially as believers, our identity is in Christ Jesus, one who was raised from the dead on the 3rd day. Now that’s a good number to remember.

    oh the craziness of the numbers game. Not much more makes me tired than that. I know they are good for certain things, but for the most part when people put all their pride in their numbers it makes me exhausted!

    Lots of ways to get famous on the internet… I'd avoid most of them. Forgot the numbers, focus on process.

    Numbers only matter to me to see who is clicking through to links. I don't care about day-to-day links in Twitter… mostly, just links about stuff I post for my church. I want to be able to track how effective what I'm doing really is.

    well, I still need my morning blog stats fix and …. if I could juuuust crack the twitter elite then – oh wait most of my followers don't even know me, darn.
