The Goal is NOT the Mission, But They are Good Bed Fellows
A great conversation during my “Crowdsourcing Blog Strategy” and “Missional Blogging” breakout was about “Goals” and “Mission” specifically about blogs.
It’s somewhat difficult to explain, in great detail, in this post about it since, contextually, it would be far too much and take too much time… and as a result, you’d fall asleep. I assure you, though, I hope that we (you, the reader, and I) will be able to do it in the near future (that is, talk in the real about this stuff)!
Church Tech Camps are awesome. We should definitely hang out. And yes, we’ll do much much more.
The goal, in the missional context of blogging (which we we’re specifically talking about and from my unique perspective) is transformation.
PERIOD.
That’s it. Don’t do any more thinking about that. Now spend some time on your individual and specific “mission”.
Regardless of whether you’re using your blog to change lives or to educate others the goal is the same. The mission and certainly how you go about it and the topics you cover, will be dramatically different. This has much more to do with being specific, as I mentioned countless times, than with coverage.
A good post by Jeremiah recently also covers some good food for thought. I’d read it if I were you.
But, if you’re interested in blogging missionally, the goal is transformation for your readers, that they may encounter and grow in Christ-likeness.
Of course, if you’re not into “missional blogging” you can do whatever you like… that’s what’s so great about the “freedom” of Christ, right?
If anything, blog it up.
