UserNameCheck.com – A Good Place to Start

Posted by John Saddington on Nov 8, 2008

Interested in engaging people deeper in the online space?  Thinking about jumping into the pool of social networking sites to plug your ministry initiative, program, or brand?

If so, you’re first stop should probably be UserNameCheck.com, a simple service which will show you what usernames are already registered to respective online services, because consistency with usernames is a very good thing.

As you can see, “ChurchCrunch” hasn’t been used that much (except Twitter and apparently LiveJournal).

But here’s a thought…  Just because it’s not being used… does that mean that I should go out and have a registration-party just to make sure that no one ganks my brand name?

Hmm…

Also, this service has been known to provide inaccurate information… but for the most part, it’s a good and decent service.

  1. You always find useful items like this.

I am trying to decide whether to switch everything to sullied or keep sully_michael stuff. Not everything allows underscores.

    So i may be changing.

  2. ah. the decisions that are the toughest… name and avatar changes. doh!

  3. Sadly, usernamecheck closed last week. I created a usernamecheck clone called http://myuserna.me in order to keep the dream alive. Stop by and give me some feedback. I’m going to add many more sites to check in the coming weeks.
