Working with the Technological Drama Queens

This happens a lot.
Luckily, the place where I work now isn’t a breeding ground for queens of drama, but I’ve been in some places where this is extremely typical. Perhaps you’ve got some war stories?
Working with those that slow us down is part of ministry. In fact, especially if you’re the resident “geek” and/or “technologist” part of your day-to-day is managing these types of relationships.
Keep cool, calm, and collected. Part of our job as the so-called technologically-elite is to actually communicate effectively with those that have lives outside the computer screen (and thank God, right?).
See, we all play various roles and have various functions that are necessary for our organizations and ministries to be successful. I have to remind myself that without “them” I’d really have no job in the first place.
And the fact that I can be just as much of a drama queen as they, just in reverse, as I whine and moan that the collective ignorance of my work environment makes me nauseated (or at least the previous ones in which I worked).
Spread the wealth of knowledge with an open mind and let’s have grace be the first thing we give besides great technical advice.

What a good reminder. I like 'getting away' from the office by going to Starbucks and hanging out with my other webby 2.0y MacBook carrying friends. I'm still getting work done but get to do it outside my office. If everyone I worked with were like me… Starbucks wouldn't be such a 'getaway' for me.
haha!
I have come full circle in this as I was highly engaged and excited about technology when I was younger and then went through a period of time where I literally could have cared less. I am back to being engaged and involved but now I can at least see why other people might have zero interest in the same things as I do, particularly when it comes to technology.
very cool!
btw, how do you like squarespace…?
I really like Squarespace for the "ease" factor. I am in the midst of learning a lot more about how to do my own development but in the meantime Squarespace lets me focus on just posting what I want to post and not stress out too much about how to make it tick. I am sure for the really savvy it wouldn't offer as much flexibility as one would like, but for me it's awesome.
cool. thanks for taht!
