Would You Be Willing to Die For Your Blog?
Interesting question, right?
Most of you who are reading this are probably sitting quite comfortably in your desk or chair at home without even a thought about anything remotely close to persecution in terms of your blogs and blogging.
But, there are a number of places that are incredibly dangerous for bloggers and it made me think of whether or not I’d be willing to die for my blog.
You see, for us as believers who have been called to preach the Good News of the Gospel through all means so that we may win some, it sometimes means martyrdom. I don’t find it necessarily right to go looking to be martyred, but that’s the potential cost associated with preaching the Gospel.
In a now electronic culture the vehicles for communicating that message might be your blog.
“Martyrdom by Blog” perhaps?
I haven’t seen any cases, yet, for Christendom. But for others, like the Iranian Blogger who died in prison, it’s a possible reality.
Here’s a list of the top 10 countries that are the “worst” in terms of being a blogger.
There’s something that wells up inside of me and that makes me think of the story of Jim Elliot, who from a very young age just knew that he was meant to preach to the lost in remote parts of the world. I’d like to think that God is raising up new evangelical missionaries who feel called to use technology to preach in some of the most dangerous areas of the world.
And it’s not because we need Christian bloggers to die but because we’ve been called to preach a message worth dying for.
Is that too far-fetched of an idea?

When it comes to blogging its not the world that I fear, its other Christians that cause me to be 'gun shy' on my blog
I agree. It is the Christians I am most concerned about most of the time. Non-Christians act like non-Christians. What I am always disappointed about are the Christians that act like non-Christians.
We are blessed to live in a country where we do not fear dying for our beliefs. I pray we never do. Speak the truth and let the Lord take care of the rest.

Agreed, but would we still do it if that wasn't the case?
It does sound far-fetched but I don't think it is. Just a product of how ridiculously blessed and protected we are in the country.
That is a good question! How strong our faith is, how do we ever know until the time of testing?
I believe my site had been called to do just that!
